I could ask random strangers if they fancied a chat

“At last, all my interviews are finished and I’ve transcribed over three million words”. I’m officially talked and typed out. This is a punctuation blog. It’s the beginning of the end of my mammoth task. I really can’t believe what I’ve done. Some might say “You’re a bloody fool. It’s madness”. I agree. I started these projects in 2011, that’s ten years of conversations, listening and asking lots and lots of questions. I’ve basically done the equivalent of two Phd’s!!

This whole process has given me patience, discipline, determination, focus and, that illusive noun I’ve been avoiding all my life - structure! Thanks to Lockdown I was without distractions. I was forced to focus and it worked. Via Twitter I could access a wider demographic and Zoom meant I could speak to men from all over the world. And now that I am a technological genius, I used a transcription app to help me navigate the enormous task that lay before me.

So now here we are; I am starting to write my third and final book. I expect it to be out in the Autumn. In the meantime I have lined up lots of blogs with extracts from my interviews for you to read. Thank you to everyone who has supported me to get to this stage. I very much appreciate it. THANK YOU!
