A treasure chest of delights

Peter Holt - artist of the celebs!

Peter Holt - artist of the celebs!

Well, I’m not sure where that month went - but here we are at the end of April. A month of lots going on with very little time for typing - especially at my speed!

My brother had a baby and I became an aunt for the 7th time - another girl to add to the 6 I already have.

My uncle came to stay all the way from sunny Yorkshire (I’ve forgiven him straying over to the dark side of the Pennies) He’s an artist and was chosen to go on one of those painting reality shows - it was filmed at the Battersea Arts Centre - the artists chosen spent the day painting famous people. I had no idea who his celeb was but next to him was the wonderful Micky Flanagan!

Then my step brother came to stay, the girls came back from uni and there was a whole heap of room swapping, sheet changing and the washing machine took a battering. I succumbed to copious amounts of cholcolate over Easter which I swore I wouldn't - but I am a sucker for a Cadburys Easter egg or two - actually I had 3!

The Free Little Library is now fully established and is starting off many new conversations. Three young kids knocked on my door the other day - “we love it - thank you so much”. A woman stopped me in the street to tell me what a wonderful, thoughtful thing to do. And the man from the local charity shop said “if you run out - you know where I am”. I strongly recommend getting a Little Free Library https://littlefreelibrary.org/tag/uk/ it’s no effort and creates a little piece of loveliness in the community.

And then there’s my shed - did I tell you I was building one? Yawn! I’m not going to drone on but it’s safe to say I’m in. I thought you might like to see what it’s like on the inside. I was going to post a video but my tech skill aren’t quite there yet! Here’s a few photos instead.

Louise & James’ new shop READ

Louise & James’ new shop READ

Book update - I grew up in the Ribble Valley in Lancashire and to say I’m the tiniest bit proud that my book is in Holmes Mill in Clitheroe is an understatement. If you ever get a chance to go and see this place, please do - it’s an amazing emporium of joy. Situated underneth the castle the old mill has been lovingly transformed into a treasure chest of delights to satisfy every taste. https://www.holmesmill.co.uk

I am equally over the moon about being stocked in a new book shop called - Read.Holmfirth in Yorkshire, run by Louise and James. As I’m typing this my phone just pinged - it’s Louise telling me she’s sold the batch I sent her two days ago and she wants more - Incredible! https://to-be-read.co.uk

So that’s all my news - I’m back to interviewing this week and hope to get excerpts from these fellas out to you very soon - if the typist is willing!

Have a good week x
